My Story

Welcome to Nimia’s Beauty Salon, I am the owner and Head Beautician, Nimia Sarmiento.

I have always loved Cosmetology so when I emigrated to Long Island, NY my number one barrier was not learning how to be a Beautician, it was learning in English, my second language.

I enrolled at the Long Island Beauty School in Hauppauge but I had to use a tape recorder to record each class and then translate what had been said each night. It was difficult, but worth it! My Instructors were happily surprised when I graduated with high marks.

As a Cosmetologist I received certifications and specialize in coloring, keratin treatments, haircuts, smoothing and body waves, and styles that can be worn and easily cared for every day.

After honing my craft for 7 years, in April 2011 I purchased the salon from my former employer and the Nimia’s Beauty Salon team hasn’t looked back since. We are dedicated to providing our clients with the best service, using the highest quality products and equipment, so you leave our salon feeling beautiful every time!

I want your hair to be healthy and strong, but in addition, I want to make your time with us a pleasant and relaxing break in your day. Because of that desire, many of our clients are now no longer just clients, but friends too.

We are aware of and sensitive to the challenges of our clients with sensitive hair, skin and scalps, or who may be undergoing various medical treatments. I am proud to say the Nimia’s Beauty Salon team can provide professional solutions to make you look and feel fabulous!

APPOINTMENTS AND CANCELLATIONS

Appointments are usually available a minimum of 48 hours in advance, and we are available during regular shop hours. With 72 hours’ notice, my assistants and I can handle bridal and special events groups of up to eight individuals. There is a 24 hour cancellation policy in place to protect you, our clients and you may review that here.

OUR COMMITMENT TO HIGH QUALITY PRODUCTS

Our Salon proudly uses Keratin Complex, Olaplex, Matrix, Trybe, Qiqi, Eleven and Sexy Hair brand products, which are eco-friendly and hypoallergenic. Our fine lines of shampoos, conditioners, mousses, and de-tanglers are also available for purchase in store and on the website at the Shop link.
